Stay In Touch While Traveling By RV
With baby boomers starting to reach retirement age, more and more are recognizing the fun of RV travel. The number of people in the over 55 age group who own recreational vehicles is increasing, as is the amount of time that they spend on the road. It is not uncommon for retirees to load up the RV and head to warm and sunny destinations during the winter months, often living in their RV for months at a time.
It is not necessary to sacrifice functionality or computer performance in order to have a smaller computer while you are traveling. There are numerous options on the market that deliver impressive performance while maintaining a small profile and footprint.
One of the overall best ways to handle your computer needs while on the road is to simply opt for a laptop computer. Today's laptop computer can have an impressive amount of power. Large hard drives and high-resolution monitors are other options that are now possible although for a premium price. It is important to keep in mind that if you only need a computer for checking email, using Word and Office or playing a few simple video games, then you will not need a computer with a great deal of power. If you do, however, need a more powerful computer (for example, for playing more sophisticated games or graphic design work) then consider a laptop with a larger, higher resolution screen and lots of extra memory. An upgraded screen might also prove useful for watching movies on the road as well.
Choosing a computer for your recreational vehicle doesn't have to be a matter of compromising quality for space any longer. A laptop makes a great all purpose computer today, with the improvements that have been made in processor power, memory and hard drive capacity, as well as display quality. You can get a laptop that is every bit as powerful as a desktop system, while conserving space requirements, which can be very important in your RV.
When considering the features that are important to you in a laptop, it first makes sense to think about how you will be using the system. If your needs are strictly email and maybe a little web surfing, then you might do just fine with a netbook. Designed for this purpose, and to be highly portable, a netbook will take up very little space. In addition, it is small enough that you can pack it away in a drawer or cupboard when not in use. On the other hand, if you intend to play video games, stream movies or television, or will be running applications like Word, Quicken and Photoshop, for example, then you will want a full laptop system with plenty of memory and hard drive capacity. And, if you intend to watch lots of movies or television on your computer, you will most definitely want to consider a larger, high resolution display. Either way, there are plenty of computer options to meet your needs while traveling by RV.
