The Recession Is Finally Starting To Turn Around For RVs And Fifth Wheel Campers
After a disconcerting recession that saw a loss of jobs for those in the RV industry, the economy is finally starting to turn around for RVs and fifth wheel campers. Throughout the nation, RV dealers are reporting more RV sales. January saw an increase in sales and the trend had stayed strong as the months pass.
The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association published the results of Dr. Richard Curtain's forecast for the coming years in regards to RV sales. What he found was an increase over last year by 39% and the probability of 249,700 shipments during 2010. His forecast came as a welcome announcement to the RV Industry that is only beginning to expand operations after many businesses laid off employees last year.
Unlike previous recessions, where the road to recovery was relatively fast and stayed steady, Curtain warns the next several years will most likely see ups and downs. However as consumer confidence returns, they are beginning to purchase more expensive items such as RVs, travel trailers and fifth wheel campers. With a new generation entering the market, travel trailer sales have spiked.
RVs and fifth wheel campers are also holding their ground as sales on the more expensive items are beginning to grow again. The new Ambassadors of Affordability created by GoRving for their advertisements are helping those who might be interested in purchasing an RV understand that RV vacations are affordable and create lasting family bonds. These cute critters were received favorably by audiences and have been featured in commercials during the Olympics and NASCAR.
The highest end RVs can cost well upwards of $100,000 for a used vehicle with some of the most extravagant models topping $2 million. Travel trailers, the least expensive models sell for less than $20,000. There are a wide variety of options that make RVs affordable for most income levels. Fifth wheel prices sit in between travel trailers and Class A RVs. Fifth wheel campers offer the convenience of being able to leave the fifth wheel in the campground while trucking around on excursions.
There are a variety of ways to travel – air, car, train, but few allow for the comforts of home like RVing does. A favorite pillow, or certain foods and drinks can be stocked up without worrying about airport security confiscating them. Feel free to bring the full size bottle of shampoo, or toothpaste to last the entire trip. No more paying $20.00 for a bottle of suntan lotion at an exclusive resort. In an RV, you can stop at a grocery store and buy supplies for a reasonable price.
Most people became familiar with the RV lifestyle as kids when their parents used to take them on summer vacations in the RV. RV travel lets people experience some of the United States' greatest treasures including National and State Parks, undeveloped wilderness, carnival attractions, fairs and more. For baby boomers, the idea of summering in the south and wintering in the north can become a reality by loading up the RV.
It's easy to feel the spirit of the road upon you. Simply buy an RV, load it up with fishing rods, golf clubs, knitting, hiking gear, climbing gear and more. Gas up and drive. It's as simple as that.
