With such a selection of ATV loading ramps out there, it can be hard to choose just the right one. But on the other hand, because there are so many ramps out there, you'll be able to find a ramp system that will work best for your situation and set-up.

First off, you should think about both how and where you'll be using an ATV loading ramp. Will you be loading the four- wheeler onto a trailer or a truck? What kind of weather and ground conditions will you be facing? Will you have any help when loading and unloading?

After you answer these questions, it's time to decide on the particular ramp style that will work best for you. Let's take a look at the four basic kinds of ATV loading ramps. There are advantages and disadvantages for each.

* Bi-fold ramps fold in half widthwise. Bi-folds are compact but that makes it more challenging to store them under the ATV during travel.

* A tri-fold ramp will fold in thirds widthwise. A tri-fold may come with an open center track. They are easy to store under your ATV while you travel.

* The dual runner ramp is really two separate ramps. These are available in both folding and non folding styles. This type of ramp is easy to store under your ATV but does require an ATV with a higher ground clearance.

* Finally, there are hitch mounted ramps that attach to a trailer hitch. These can be folded for storage during travel.

Regardless of whichever style of ramp you choose, any type of straight ramp will need extra length to avoid bottoming out your four- wheeler when loading. You can avoid this problem by choosing an arched ramp.

When you are choosing a ramp, be sure to take into consideration the complete overall weight it has to support. The overall weight includes the weight of the ATV itself, accessories that are attached, the weight of the driver, fuel, along with the weight of any cargo you are carrying. Be sure to buy a ramp system that exceeds the required weight capacity.

One other thing to consider is the ramp's width. You can get by using a ramp that just fits the width of your ATV, but having a wider than necessary ramp makes loading and unloading not only easier but safer too.

For instance, if you've been doing some mud riding, it's possible that your tires won't get as much traction and may slide around a bit during loading. You won't have to worry about this if your ramp is extra wide.

With so many ATV loading ramps available, you'll want to take your time exploring all the options before deciding. You only want to do this once so be sure to do it right.

To get your ATV to the trail, you'll probably need to load it up in the back of your pickup. It just makes sense to use a good solid aluminum loading ramp. Why trust your four wheeler to just any old ramp? Check out the huge variety of specialty ATV loading ramps by clicking on the link.
